About Us:

CyclEvolution is owned by myself, Balarama (Bala) Almeida and my partner, Sarah Ferrer. We decided to open our own bike shop once we realized that biking was becoming more of a lifestyle than just a hobby. We were officially able to bring our dream to fruition in early September 2009 when we finally opened for business. Part of the journey to opening our doors included a life changing road trip centered around attending United Bicycle Institute where I certified my skills for the professional bike industry.  The trip lasted 2 months (including UBI) and took us on a 10,000 mile road trip across the U.S. During this time we rode 500 miles through some of the most impressive scenery and challenging terrain. We camped every night, showered in rivers, rode cross-country, all-mountain, and downhill must-ride and epic trails, and met some amazing people and riders. If there was ever doubt in our minds about going through with the feat of opening this business, then that trip squashed it. We started a thread on MTBR.com prior to the trip and posted pictures and updates along the way. The feedback we received from the thread was both surprising and motivating. If you have not seen the thread yet, I would highly recommend checking it out (link below). It became inspirational for us while on the trip as well as for others because of the life that it took on. The only thing I can say is that an adventure like this changes you, and changes you for the better.

Sarah and I support the health of our planet and all that inhabit it, and therefore strive to be eco-friendly. Sarah uses her fixie to go to and from her primary employment, we are both vegans, and we support other organizations that provide eco-friendly products and services when possible. We both have commuters bikes which we use for urban rides and commuting but on the trails I ride a Custom built Chumba VF2, built for all-mountain style riding and Sarah rides a Custom built Chumba VF2. During the week we predominantly ride Quiet Waters (Deerfield Beach), on the weekend we ride Markham and Oleta, and we try and take weekend trips to Alafia, Balm Boyette, Santos, and San Felasco as often as possible.

To further serve and support our community, we recently completed the IMBA National Bike Patrol course and look forward to assisting other riders and to continue improving local trails in the future. We are very excited to be part of this biking community and all 13,000 plus registered mountain bikers.
